I wonder if he'll advocate turning the dam heating down in offices in the winter as part of this great energy saving plan. If they all just left the office when they finish working they'd save so much energy as Wottock quite rightly points out. This infantile sitting around pretending to be busy because you're scared of some very short idiot in his sixties must be costing the country a fortune.
No battle at all, Sarx - I don't give it a second thought. If something is a pile of specious bolleaux, I don't feel fiefdom-bound to pretend otherwise. This was nonsense three years ago - when at least it was the PM's own policy - and it remains so now when Fukuda doesn't have the independence of thought to buck the trend.
This serves solely to reduce the spending of companies who can pretend they're caring about the environment by making their drones graft in temperatures close to 30 degrees.
We get the same thing every year. In the summertime it's suddenly vital to save energy, but once the mercury falls below 25, watch the heating get cranked right up. Put a sweater on? No chance.
We Japanese like to live in harmony with nature, so long as nature is between 27 and 30 degrees.
Incidentally, anyone who wants to see how sincerely the locals believe they should save energy should have been on the Chiyoda Line this morning.
The weather was a little cooler than usual. Are we to work on the assumption that grown-ups will have the guile to dress accordingly? Nope. Just crank on the heating to January-furnace levels.
Anyone who thinks this "Save Energy When It's Hot" is anything but a bandwagon gimmick is delusional.
Anyone who thinks I should pretend it's a good thing that the unelected Prime Minister doesn't have the wherewithal to dress himself because he has to act as though he gives a monkey's about saving energy needs to take his head out of his fundament.

"most office buildings are air-sealed and can't open windows"
And that bites the big one! I'd like to open the window and turn on the electric fan than sweat with the "air conditioner set on low.

A pile of nonsense.

"A pile of nonsense."
Indeed.

Glad you finally see the light, old boy. Just living here doesn't mean you have to suspend all critical faculties.
And I know what you meant.

"Glad you finally see the light, old boy. Just living here doesn't mean you have to suspend all critical faculties."
No, it means you have to whine about all things, wheteher good or bad.

Glad to see you can read my mind - what's it like in double-standard world?
Scrote at 08:51 AM JST - 30th May
As Japan heats up, the cool-biz season should gradually be extended until it lasts the whole year.

I didn't have to read your mind to come to my conclusion, Wottock, just your posts. So far for your weak double standard attempt.

Another one of those "oops, I just remembered I once was refused by a hopsital here" anecdotical evidences?

What? You mind-reading again? Or did I not ride the Chiyoda Line on Saturday morning? I don't travel by Wonkavision, you know.

"What? You mind-reading again? Or did I not ride the Chiyoda Line on Saturday morning? I don't travel by Wonkavision, you know."
I am sure, my dear Wottock, that whatever line you are riding, the heating is always on in the summer and the cooling always in the winter.
That is exactly why your opinions are in general of no importance at all.
Wottock_Hunt at 03:29 PM JST - 3rd June
Then why, my dear sarcasm, do you spend so much time commenting on my opinions, rather than addressing the topic of the thread?
Do you, or do you not, think it is a good thing that the unelected Prime Minister does not possess the political clout necessary to dress himself?
