What a boring lunch that must be. There are no interpreters in sight. They probably hardly said two words to their neighbor during the whole meal. I wonder how the seating arrangements are decided at these events. Bush is in the middle facing Fukuda, no doubt. The guy relegated to the end must be thinking where he'll seat Fukuda when it is his turn to host the summit.
First of all, Fukuda won't be around in a year. Secondly the 280,000,000 dollars wasted, WASTED, on just the security for this boysclub ass-patting event is a good place to look on how the G8 might save energy and help the less fortunate.
Don't you ever know that this G8 is an emergency call meeting for the super power nations to talk about something valuable and important to our world crisis? not only a crisis of a countries economic survival? But also to save our mother earth. Don't you ever know that our global climate had change. There are many catastrophic disasters that some other countries experienced. We need our mother Earth to save inorder for us to live. If not where can we live? In the outer space? I hope our government will afford to make a space ship for all people in each nations or can afford to buy an individual space suit and oxygen. Might be in the years to come when our mother Earth will be ripen, The global warming has come maybe next there will be massive earthquakes and tsunamis. Where are we going then?
The G8 club actually was G7... shall never achieve any meaningful developments it was just a forum protecting those industrial interests group. It shall never replacing the United nations. It was an idea worst than the legaue of nations! Not representing the world!
What is food security? Locking up your $100 melons? It's also nice to see they are discussing fuel prices. We discuss them regularly too, but bugger all gets achieved. I fear the summit discussion will have the same result.
The global warming has come maybe next there will be massive earthquakes and tsunamis. Where are we going then?
Global warming, massive earthquakes, tsunamis - What's the connection?
If you take the time to think this out for yourself you'll see the problem originates not from an excess of CO2 but from the very people who are selling you this fictional tale.
weedkila: I'll give you this much; anyone who thinks earthquakes have anything to do with global warming has their head nicely tucked up the backside of their trousers. Beyond that, there is very relevant and factual information which proves the increased hurricanes, typhoons, and other phenomena is not so 'phenomenal' given the fact that it is caused by human industry and the waste that results. Tsunami? well, no... as they are mostly the result of earthquakes, which, again, have nothing to do with human activity.
If (that's a big if) global warming is a man made event and not a cycle of sun spot activity or farting hyenas or what not we should address it. That said any measure on climate change needs to bring every country that is a major emitter on board. There is no way that the 1st world nations should accept any plan that does not include China and India. Cutting greenhouse gasses represents an economic burden and there is no way we should allow China's cost advantages to be even greater under a plan that exempts their pollution.
Well, it's hard to know exactly because there is so much disinformation floating about but this is what one expert says.
According to hurricane expert Dr. William Gray at Colorado State University, we should see an increase in storm activity over the next 20 years. The storms are expected to cause 5 to 10 times the amount of damage on the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts than previously experienced, due to the massive increase in population and development along these coastlines. The hurricane activity of the next 20 years should resemble the period that began in the late 1920s and lasted through the 1940s. The increase is due to higher salinity content in the Atlantic Ocean, which alters its currents and increases average ocean temperatures, fueling more storms. Gray emphasizes that this is a cyclical trend and has nothing to do with global warming (CNN, April 22, 2000).

".... Meteorologists who study tropical cyclones have no valid physical theory as to why hurricane frequency or intensity would necessarily be altered significantly by small amounts of global mean temperature change..."
A bit of background on this man and his opinion on global warming...
Meteorologist William Gray may be the world’s most famous hurricane expert. More than two decades ago, as professor of atmospheric science and head of the Tropical Meteorology Project at Colorado State University, he pioneered the science of hurricane forecasting...
Gray is skeptical of current theories of human-induced global warming, which he says is supported by scientists afraid of losing grant funding[1] and promoted by government leaders and environmentalists seeking world government.[2]. He believes that humans are not responsible for the warming of the earth and has stated that "We're brainwashing our children."[3].

That is only one expert's opinion. If you have other info to the contrary then I'll happily read it.
One more thing. We hear about the Arctic polar region melting because of global warming yet it seems this is a fairly common phenomenon. The following url has a graph showing that global sea ice has remained fairly constant over the last 30 years. There is also a pic. showing 3 surfaced US subs which were apparently at the N.pole in 1987. It's just my opinion but I would have thought there would have been more melting since mean temperatures had been increasing slightly over the past couple of decades (due to the Sun) but that has now changed apparently (the earth is returning to a cooling trend :)
Satellite records have been kept for polar sea ice over the last thirty years by the University Of Illinois. In 2007 & 2008, two very different records were set. The Arctic broke the previous record for the least sea ice area ever recorded, while the Antarctic broke the record for the most sea ice area ever recorded. Summed up over the entire earth, polar ice has remained constant. As seen below, there has been no net gain or loss of polar sea ice since records began.

Havent leaders been constantly discussing these issues for years? Stop discussing them and fix them. That will never happen though because its all about business. MONEY TALKS! more and more millionaires and billionaires each day the world turns. Everyday there are many new factories starting operations. EVERYDAY! how is that helping the environment? come on do you really believe these leaders are doing anything? Its easy to sign Treaties and make paperwork look like itll change things... but anyone can do that. All these issues have progressed in a negative way no matter what these G8 summits intend to do. The same situation has existed in Africa for centuries. There has been continuous donating since the 50`s and no change. The corruption and greed must end!
to weedkila: the problem does'nt originates from me but to those people who are innocent about theories of the earth. Practical means to solve global warming cannot really solve this issue. You should believe in fate. After fate there will come fiction.
