Again? Instead of Annual budget and Supplementary budgets, from now onward govt. should draw Monthly Budget. No cash handout plan for poor workers (temporary workers without health insurance and other benefits)?

some14some, my opinion is that people who should take care of people, not the government.
Poor workers should know how to take care of themselves. People should have family, friends, someone who they can count on and it can not be only in the government.
Noda is doing a great job. I like this guy. He is the most intelligent PM of last times.

Good to hear it's through cost cutting, personally - benefits for unemployed should be the Governments responsibility. Can't send billions in Aid overseas and have tent and cardboard cities in parks. Not a good look. Wasteful spending, streamlining departments, greater use of technology....got to find it. The money is drying up.

You would think that printing all this extra Yen would weaken the currency.

"The yen has tested historic highs against the dollar this year and forced major manufacturers to shift some production out of Japan. A strong yen shrinks the value of overseas profits when repatriated and makes Japanese products more expensive in overseas markets."
The strong yen, on a positive note, has enabled some Japanese companies to expand internationally by making purchases of foreign businesses of late. It's not all bad news.

If in doubt, draw up a supplementary budget and hang the expense. The "temporary", 25 year income tax hike starts next year I think. According to the paper I will be down about Y9000 per year, which doesn't seem too bad. It's the 8% pay cut and 5% consumption tax increase that will be the real killers, if they go through.

Exactly spot on, PM Noda.
With GDP/sovereign debt of 233.1%, this is exactly what Japan needs to do right now. No more government bonds, please.
Japan needs to cut public spending more aggressively while trying to increase GDP growth to keep house in order This is a good plan to me. Otherwise, Japan will be the next Greece within 3 years.
Eliminate a public housing benefit to all public employees and cut all non performing public agencies. The party is over, and this got to be done first before raising taxes..

Bring in the tourists to Japan. Stop the negative publicity for a very small area in the north. Look what SK has done. "Japanese tourist Teruko Takenaka received a surprise bouquet of flowers and a commemorative plaque on Thursday when she arrived at Incheon International Airport." Subsidize the air ticket and the tourists will come. More tourists, more tax income, and more economic security.

Thanks noriyosan... Haha.. That's a good one..I'm sure giving out flowers and commemorative plaques at airports while while censoring reports " from small area in the north " as you call it , will fix Japan, s economic problems... Now back to Noda- any proposals to cut administrative waste to fund govt spending - big thumbs up!

I hope this isnt BS about getting funds from exisiting budget allocations, as I have ranted for years here I fugure at least 15-20% of what we pay each year is either wasted or stolen, thats a HUGE pot of $$$ that must be taped before fleecing us any more!

Japan needs to take a hard look at Walfare system in the State of Wisconsin, USA. They have a progressive and aggressive system with 3 years educaton and training benefits. This is a once in a life time entitlement, and it is being offered to unemployment workers to upgrade their job skills, This once in a life time entitlement cannot be used over and over. This has been very successful.
