This is a very stupid idea! Their is no good reason for filthy rich people to claim this cash benefit. I hope Aso and the LDP get their heads out of where the sun don't shine real quick! Or we may have that poor, ill Ozawa as our new leader of the 2nd biggest economy in the world (Japan)!

This is a very stupid idea! Their is no good reason for filthy rich people to claim this cash benefit.

Filthy rich people don't get filthy rich by turning down offers of free cash.

There's also a very wide expanse between needy and filthy rich. Where are you going to draw the line? A single person earning 18 million a year isn't on the same level as a family of two parents and 4 offspring all earning 3 million each, yet on the government radar they all show up as 'households with an income of 18 million'.

This whole 'let's throw money at people before the election' strategy has blown up in the LDP's face. If they carry on blustering through with it, people will be upset at the transparent waste of public money on bread and circuses; if they don't, people will be upset at not getting the windfall they'd come to expect.

Classic example of how not to run a government.
