Hatoyama's fund management body misstates political funds

TOKYO —

Democratic Party of Japan leader Yukio Hatoyama apologized to the public Tuesday after his political fund management body made false statements in its political funds reports. The amount of misstated funds totaled around 22 million yen over the four years from 2005, he told reporters.
 
‘‘As a representative of a political fund management body, I sincerely apologize to the public,’’ the leader of the main opposition party said. Hatoyama added that he will revise the statement.
