Former PM and heavy weight Mr. Nakasone's visit to Beijing prior to Hu's visit to Japan speaks a lot and nullifies J-media's Hype. Like it or not, it is Japan who needs China at this critical moment.
"Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cui Tiankai on Monday conveyed his nation’s appreciation to Japan for its hospitality and tight security during the Japan leg of the Beijing Olympic torch relay on Saturday, Japanese officials said."
"Like it or not, it is Japan who needs China at this critical moment."
LOL. China needs Japan now, since the entire world hates them.
China is regretting her anti-Japan policies of a couple years ago.
**LOL. China needs Japan now, since the entire world hates them. **
Open you eyes, dude. China has close relations with countries in Africa, South America and Asia. With over 100 allies, China now holds the swing in the United Nations.

ossanUlTRA,in a democratic system it is still a one man one vote, you can not under estimate the number 100.Japan is rich and powerful but theoretically still one vote, one voice.Cheers.
Not sure exactly what you're trying to say. China's "allies" are all despot dictatorships (I guess like things attract) and/or backwards developing countries that have lots of natural resources to trade for
Norinco AK knockoffs. Even Vietnam, a brother socialist country prefers
to side with the democratic countries when it comes to China.
Japan's "allies" are the developed democratic nations such as the US, Canada, Australia, EU. Perhaps you can explain what you were trying to say?
Even what you say is correct but still 100 allies is 100 allies,no matter how poor,or weak they are.In international issues,China can always claim that it has"majority support" from countries around the world;and if one says those countries who support you(China) are insignificant or undemocratic...it will appear that one is not truthful to a democratic system oneself. That will make things hard for you to open your mouth, even deep down you know what is going on ,and even politics is about power. That's my opinion.Cheers.
Thanks for thhe explanation. I advocate democratic principles for the benefit of individuals, including the Tibetan people, the Chinese people and everyone else. You are talking about nations, and every nation of any significance politically or economically is no ally of China. And this includes China's close neighbors India and Russia. As I stated, the only "allies" China has are despots, rogue regimes and dictatorships.
And basket cases like North Korea.
every nation of any significance politically or economically is no ally of China
That statement needs to be reexamined. Although some posters may be referring to the UN, in APEC, WTO and other multilateral forums, the PRC and Japan as well as not commonly mentioned entities ALL have differing alliance configurations overlapping common allies (example: Canada has strong economic relations w/ both Japan and the PRC). If you are aware of mathematical matrixes, understanding "100 alliances" is very conceivable. Now, I am associated w/ APEC and I do know that the US lets me know they are not happy w/ present trends in the Asia-Pacific. I didn't create the situation, but I can influence it.
No need for re-examination if one doesn't veer from the definition of "allies" as used by the original poster and as used by myself in response. Convergent goals or mutual concerns among any group of nations
does not constitute an "alliance" in the sense that we are discussing.

Such a narrow minded statement. The entire world actually admires China's rapid rise and hence taking every opportunity to halt it. Contrary to "regretting anti-Japan policies", it is currently just as strong as before. All is needed is just need a spark to ignite the volatile gas.

On a lighter note, I thought I woke up in the 80's when I read this headline. Happy days are here again.
