Public figures do not get to play the "it was just a normal comment" card.
There's a world of difference in making statements like this in your day to day life, and making them in a professional context. If I say "I like girls with large racks" to a friend, who cares? If I say it during a job interview, I'm an idiot.
The people who complain about others being "picky" might do well to be a bit more picky themselves, as they don't seem to grasp why this is an issue in the first place...
Scene is in a park, Prime Minister is out for a walk.
Guy: "Are you alright Old man?"
Prime Minister: "Excuse me? Im the Prime Minister of Japan!"
Guy: "Right.. and im the queen of sheeba, who told you were, sir?"
Prime Minister: "The Emperor!"
A Random old guy walking past "I never said a word"
lmao!
But in all jokes aside, he shouldnt take it so serious, more of a joke.. plus according to this article they didnt say "You ARE a disoriented Old man" they said and i quote
You look like a disoriented old man.
Could easily be a joke.. but i supose all public figures take the smallest thing to an offence.

Sorry TPOJ, this is NOT an "issue" in my world.
Children dying in the 3rd world, global warming and nuclear disarmament are ISSUES. Surely your time and energy could be spent better on these.
either he needs to lay off the Chinese imported foods or he is feeling the effects of this financial crisis. -Doesn't matter, give it 6 months and you will be stumbling around too.
Well, the person was not mistaken at all; Aso IS a disoriented old man... he probably was saying a few words in the mirror BEFORE his walk, as a kind of pep talk, when he lost track and began literally talking to himself.
give the guy a break. HA HA, when people in Japan see me I think they will run to their moms with heads down in fear and shock. It is easy to see why the pm is seen that way. If I were to see him or most old people in Japan I would also assume they are disoriented. Moreover, body language affects us all as we are all subjects to life's conditions. My true observation concerns my human inner being such as who am I in a land of unknown realities. Can someone point me in the right direction I'd like my turn at being so powerful and disoriented. Lastly, it is a hard to figure out what is beneath the surface, maybe being disoriented is exactly what the world needs to wake up and smell the roses. I for one recommend a nice healthy walk, somewhere in paradise(mind/body/soul). Let me no u no it alls. arigato
I like old Aso san! He may look like a disoriented old dude and his mouth seems kind of crooked when he seems to try to impersonate John Wayne in Japanese, maybe the angry Iraqui that through shoes at Bush could help Aso with that crooked mouth??

Just another way of saying he was recognized as PM.

Would have been recognized as PM, but the walking part threw everyone off.

yeap, there will always be more important issues at hand, but those issues won't be dealt with, with an idiot at the steering wheel.

I don't think it's a mistake, he is a disoriented old man.
ptolemy at 01:40 AM JST - 17th December
Aso is like a broken record repeatedly playing, "Nantonaku, I'm sorry, I said something stupid - again."
Bogi at 02:36 PM JST - 17th December
Before anyone says "it wasn't a mistake" again, please be reminded that joke has already been made about 7 times on this thread.
Note to the last 5 or so people, please take the time to read a few comments before you type and save us all some time.
