Russiansd don't seem to have an inferiority complex towards the Japanese the way SKoreans do, and as a result have a government that thinks about what it says and does for it's own adbantage. This is why the "Northern Territories" issue is discussed between Russia and Japan like two grown ups.

US does not agree with SKOrea and considers the Rocks as "disputed".

You are the own guilty of bias towards Skorea. You are the one adamantly claiming that ownership belongs to SKOrea. I am merely suggesting that the dispute be settled before the ICJ which is the normal way that such matters are resolved. I am not even claiming any country is right or wrong. Clearly, it is you who is blindly biased by Korean ultra nationalism.

I am neutral, and i believe Japan should forget about this dispute, it has hurt Korea enough in the past.

The dispute will not go to the ICJ, and as far as Korea is concerned that is the end of the matter. If Japan doesn`t like it, i am afraid it is tough luck.

If you have in fact looked at all of my previous posts you wold have noted that NOT ONCE have I ever stated that Japan owned these rocks. If I were biased as you follishly claim, then would I not have claimed them to be Japanese property??

You are not neutral, you notion that Japan should just "forget" about this dispute is proof that you are not neutral, and the acts of Imperial Japan wjioch weas destroyed 62 years ago is irrelevant to SKOrea's claim to the rocks which goes back to 1951.

Yes, SKOrea does not have the evidence to win at the ICJ, therefore it does not have the courage to even settle the matter they way civilized nations do. Thus all of the SKOrean claims and procolomations are cast aside by the entiure world as nothing but propaganda and ultra nationalist wishful thinking. SKorea as a nation looks like a monkey among men.

China is SKorea's number one trading partner. An enormous number of SKOrean students are studying in China. Yet, polls indicate that the average Chinese dislikes SKoreans more than the Japanese, a fact which became an embarassment during the Olympics when the Chinese crowds would cheer the Japanese team and boo the SKOrean team. In fact, this has become an issue within SKOrea with a call for the govt to improve SKOrea-China relations. SKOrea does count on China considerably economically and you dopn't see any calls to improve relations with the US or Japan. CHina not only has complete power over NKOrea but it also has very substantial sway over SKorea, moreso than any other nation.

You are, as usual wrong. I don't harbor any particular dislike for SKorea. What I do dislike is the childish manner in which many SKoreans attempt to defend their claim to these barren rocks. One one hand Skorea claims to have all this evidence that they own them, At the same time SKorea refuses to take that evidence to the ICJ and put the matter to rest. People aren't stupid, they can easily see that SKorea's claims obviously aren't as good as they claim to be, because that would be the only reason not to settle this dispute once and for all. SKorea has damaged it's own image considerably over these rocks, not because of anything that Japan or anyone else has done, but all because of the way Skorea has and continues to behave. This isn't bias, it's the truth.

Japan is already widely respected, and as I said, SKorea looks like a fool for not behaving like a grown up nation and settling the matter once and for all. It really says alot about SKoreans in general that nobody seems to see the logic in putting the matter to rest. Does that suggest that all Skoreans really know deep down that they can't really prove their claim?

Unfortunate to say OssanULTRA, your actions speak louder than your words. You are biased against the Koreans in that no matter what they try to do, you're always decrying that they're being childish and immature whereas all the other parties are acting like mature adults.

And another thing about the ICJ or any other international organisation... they're not above politics, and politics is ruled by the people with the money and if we take a look at Korea and Japan... need I say more?? And please don't give me anything about a fair international judicial system that looks at evidence and gives a balanced decision. There is no international organisation that's not biased in one form or another i.e. 1. WWF - they're biased against humans for animals 2. Green Peace - biased against humans for the environment That's not to say they're wrong, but when we talk about human orgnaisations for humans, then we talk about money, or in most cases, who has more...

There's nothing wrong with taking someone's side, but it's sickening to hear someone cry out to the world that they are justice, single handedly declaring that he's right and others are wrong without taking into account why others are angry about it!! And just for the record- a person is smart, people are stupid!!!

Nerzghul, the argument about the ICJ being swayed by Japan's money is old and tired. The Koreans trot this out whenever there is a dispute with anyone "oh we're weak, we've been victimized" ad nauseum. Korea is no longer a poor oppressed nation. They diminish their great accomplishments by constantly playing the victim. If Korea wants to play with the big boys they need to take their place in the world and put some faith in international organizations. Personally I think the ICJ will find in Korea's favor, I'm just sick of the Korean nationalism and protests that's all.

Nerzhgul, you're right, any organization is somewhat bias however the only way to really solve the islet issue is through recognized international body instead of acting like a spoiled brat having his toy taken.

If Korea thinks that all these organizations are just a cover to make money, then maybe Korea should not be part of it.

In this regard I respect North Korea more because they are acting and asserting that they don't want to be part of the international community.

You should act what you preach I'd say.

IMO, Korea is acting far more mature than Japan. Korea doesn't mull brainwashing their kids with false information in their kids text books in order to take over someone else's islets. Obviously Japan loves to play silly games. perhaps, it is time Japan must grow up to join the rest of civil international community.

I'm not really trying to say that the ICJ is corrupt or anything- sorry if I gave that impression. The only thing I have to say is that regardless of what organisation it is and to what purpose the organisation is set up for, the constituent parts of the organisation is made up of people. These people being members of other nations, with biases placed upon them not only from a personal point of view but also from a cultural perspective means that there is no truly neutral judge of any situation. And let's face it, countries with powerful economies exert greater cultural effects on other nations (it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone who has been influenced will support that nation, it just means that they are more likely to). Money is only a specific target, a symbol of the importance of a nation's economy in influencing others... It doesn't mean bribes or anything like that!!

As for the ICJ being the only way to end this situation. I don't really buy that. I mean, look at the US, it ignores the ICJ when it suits them and then walks in when it suits them... If anyone thought for a second that taking the claim to the ICJ and then having one of the principals leave the table after the decision has been made, then I doubt anyone would bother with it either... (oh, that and the fact that there's a Japanese judge in court, but no Korean one... I think we can all guess who has the upper hand!!)

All this talk and still nothing but excuses for SKorea not being willing to settle this matter for good at the ICJ. Very lame overused tiring excuses. The more posters keep repeating them ad infinitum the more SKorea's position looks worse. When the the Western world thinks of East ASia they think of China and Japan. It's little wonder that Korea follows almost as an afterthought.

Taking the matter to the ICJ will only mean Korea validates Japan's absurd claims and their baseless whinings. No excuse is needed or required to validate Japan's made up claims. Silence treatment works best when you are dealing with a brat.
