Iwate town officials try to encourage displaced residents to vote
IWATE —
Officials in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, have kick-started a campaign to encourage residents to vote in the upcoming municipal election on Aug 28. Many residents had to be evacuated after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami devastated much of the city and have not yet returned.
Government officials say they want to reach these residents and encourage them to submit absentee votes. The upcoming election will decide the incoming mayor as well as the city council. City officials say residents who wish to vote should do so through their current city office.
The previous mayor died in the tsunami. In all, some 1,500 people died or remain missing, while around 1,200 residents were displaced. Before the disaster, the town’s population was about 16,000.

Probably a good idea to vote and keep on the government at every level. Still, I wonder if they'll encourage them to pay residence tax, too.

Vote? All currently in power government officials must be imprisoned for their crimes against humanity.
