CAIRO —
Japan has agreed in principle to extend fresh loans expected to total around 80 billion yen to Iraq for three infrastructure-related projects during their recent bilateral talks, sources close to the negotiations said Saturday.
During the talks on April 26, held for the first time in Baghdad since the U.S.-led Iraq war broke out, Japan agreed to provide financial support to the nation for the projects, mainly in central Iraq, for thermal power generation, water supply, and water power generation, the sources said.
