Japan is the master of deception & loopholes. if the US thinks J agriculture will have any meaniful tarrif cuts then they will be sadly disappointed.

Don't bother, Amari-san save the taxpayers the cost of your ticket and hotel. The other parties can erect a brick wall in the conference room and negotiate with it in your stead, the results will be the same.

I agree. US won't drop the tariff on Japanese cars..

Even if Japan agrees to lowering tariffs, they'll just get around it by constructing other barriers. Look at how they block foreign car imports. Instead of high taxes, they insist on checking every nut and bolt on each car, thus driving up the cost of importing them. I suppose with rice, they'd think of something similar. Check every grain for bugs? Impose a long quarantine?

I agree. US won't drop the tariff on Japanese cars.. what that huge 5% tarriff LOL maybe if the Japanese dropped the 600% rice, 35% beef and all the other ridiculously high agriculture tarriffs then the US may follow suit.

They're not blocking, they're just doing how Japan does in Japan's business.

Fine, then don't enter "free trade" deals. The spirit of these agreements is to find common ground with partners, not to spend all your time making excuses and defending your own interests.
