    The discussions are expected to hit opposition from Japanese farmers since a trade pact could allow cheaper agricultural products like Chinese rice into Japan.

    China burns a lot of unfiltered coal for power = mercury + fluoride are emitted. -these are not good for human health (toxic) and take the place of calcium in the body (weaken bones, stiff muscles (Ca allows muscles to slide) etc).

    Besides that rice farming is what allowed huge populaces to live in Asia historically. They are needed to control water and have historically been self-supportive (kept the land fertile over time). -->Most farming now depends on fertilizer from outside sources and even then the soil is eventually depleted. =Japan/Asia rice farming is quite different than rice farming in other places and should be protected.
