China could have avoided all these troubles in Tibet if it had tried to reach a resolution with the Dalai Lama any time in the last 50 years. The Lama hiself does not advocate independence for Tibet, only the freedom of Tibet from Han colonization, and the freedom of religion for Tibetan people, and all that those Tibetan people is for the Lama to return. China has been waiting for him to die and trying to ignore him, just like it ignores the fact that a sovereign country called Taiwan also resides just off its shores.
China has told the world for decades to deny reality, and now reality is biting China on the ass. The first step for the CCP is to admit that these issues exist, and that Tibetan people want the Lama back in Tibet, and to negotiate a solution that is best for all sides on that basis.
Ditto Taiwan. Let's hope that the pressure the world puts on the communists through the Olympics will make them finally grow up.

Hiko, the CCP has edited the truth so much for Xinhua that they actually believe the farce...
