The Philippine public, since ex-President Arroyo's corruption-ridden deals with Red China and upon learning of her ultimate goal involving a defense treaty with Red China, is mulling over a renewal of the bases agreement with the US. The strengthening of defense ties between Japan and the Philippines against Red China is a very welcome development the Philippine public is looking forward to. In fact, the Philippine public would be very glad to shelter Japanese warships under a visiting forces agreement. The Japanese government may look forward to building the basic frames of its navy ships in Philippine shipyards as well in the event of war with Red China.
