Only thing Japan can do now is humanitarian money aid. Japan can not do anything else. I don't think Japan can make peace between them. US can't make peace there. Can a little Japan?

Ten millions can not stop their killing. They will kill each other forever. If Palestine authority spend this money for buying the weapons, what was a waste. Both sides from conflict are corrupted & can not trust for humanitarian aids. Japan needs to look after homeless & unemployment citizens. In the reality, Japan is no longer rich. Charity starts at home.

these races have hated each other since the beginning of the written word . it will never stop . they would cut off their nose to spite their faces . the propaganda each side churns is perpetuating everything . stop aid to everyone . let them fight .

Palestinians = Hamas
10 Million for more weapons to kill more people!
NeoJamal at 02:46 PM JST - 4th January
Well for one thing, Jews don't influence Japanese politics as much as the US.

It is sad to note that hamas will not agree to any cease fire, or any type of peace offering. Today on CNN a hamas leader vowed to fight to the last. The Palestinian people suffer the hatred of hamas.

Anyone who opposes aide to the Palestinian people is just inhumane. I think Japan realizes there is very little it can do to help solve the political problems between the two sides, but when people are suffering, most of us would feel the need to lend a hand.
Admittedly, it should be in the form of food and medical supplies (not cash) and some pressure would need to be put on Israel to open the blockade.

No, the United States of America do that all by themselves. The US upped it's aid to Israel by 25% to US$3 billion a year. It's nice to see countries like Japan take a stand and do something that the Americans will be uneasy about. Good for Aso. US$10 million to the Palestinians against US$3 billion a year to the Israelis ? Do me a favour Alphaape.
zurcronium at 07:01 PM JST - 4th January
Northlondon,
aid to Israel from the US is way more that $3 billion per year. Aid to the West Bank is peanuts in comparison, especially under the crusades based bush administration.
So far two Israelis have been killed by rockets. Nearly 500 Arab kids and others have been killed in the massive attack carried out by one of the most powerful militaries in the world, nuclear armed even. The Israeli attack however in the end will be fruitless and they will retreat as before with no gain whatsoever. The genocidal attacks just make the case stronger for Hamas power that the US and Israel do not want peace, are incapable of peace. It shows they just want death. As Iraq is to the US, the west bank is to Israel. Its that simple. Both failures in policy and military execution.

I don't want to point out the obvious, but if you live next door to a mini-super power (Israel) and you lob Qassam rockets into southern Israel for a couple a months (like HAMAS has been doing) should anybody be surprised that Israel finds itself having to defend themselves from these blood thirsty terrorists (HAMAS) hiding amongst the Palestinian civilians??? $10 million bucks is just a symbolic way for Japan to tell the Arabs (with lots of OIL that Japan really needs) that it really cares and feels the pain, and to keep that OIL flowing onegaishimasu!

Why reward bad behavior? Wait we do that in the US. Prisoners get air conditioners, food three times a day, clothing, Cable, Computers, Gym to work out at, congical visits, health care....crap the lower middle class are fools for not committing crimes.
kairi990 at 08:59 AM JST - 5th January
Exactly!!! Moreover: Why is it always acceptable for the Israelis drop bombs on the Palestinians, but when the shoe is on the other foot, it's an outrageous crime? Hell if anybody publicly points this out to people, they'll just get labeled as an anti-semite. Genocide is genocide is genocide. Whether the Jews murder the Palestinians or the other way around. Neither country's actions are justified.

It's interesting that so many Americans on this board are appalled by the idea of giving a very small amount of money for humanitarian reasons to one group, but don't object to giving over 3 billion dollars a year (of their own money) to the other to spend on weapons. No wonder there is no solution in site, as one side (the occupier) is so heavily funded and supported by the superpower. Aso has finally done something right, but let's hope this aid is in the form of medical supplies and food to the people in Gaza.
HonestDictator at 07:39 AM JST - 6th January
The reason is because many Americans don't believe it will go where people would like it to go (to the Palastinians that need aid) and expect Hamas to use it for other less savory practices (buying more weapons/ammo). Since when does it work throwing money that you can't guarantee the security of to be given to the people you think need it? The only way to guarantee this is to buy the aid and distribute it themselves. But then again that would cost more money.
paolo27th at 09:15 PM JST - 6th January
Yes Japan could send food and medicines but then again Israel wouldn't let them through anyway.
