Japan, S Korea to seek tougher sanctions against N Korea

Tougher sanctions? Obviously, NK thinks this is all a game while millions of starving NKoreans are dying and are in dire need of medicine, food, shelter and food. Japan, SKorea, Russia and China should start taking out their missle launch sites and nuclear test sites to teach them a real lesson.

These sanctions will only make the situations worse. This is the thing that always be, to see this, we just need to recall the confliction of Irag, Libya, Afghanistan.

Why not just stop ALL the aide and assistance from ALL countries.

So, is Japan, USA and China going to continue to allow this to happen? Or is North Korea's program so novice that it is too soon to worry about?

And round and round we go. There is nothing else Japan or other nations can do but propose and possibly put into effect tougher sanctions, but in the end they'll just give in and offer aid if NK comes back to the table, then NK will renege, etc. The only thing that changes in this endless merry-go-round is the yield of the blast and the success of the rockets.

What's the CLOSEST NK ever came to going to REAL change and heading towards reunification? It was through dialogue. Then of course radicals in various countries, including NK of course, forced the nations to renege on promises and things went back down the toilet in favour of political points with wingers.

Aside from universal condemnation and talk of further sanctions, not a thing can or likely will be done, and that's the sad truth.

Actually, that's the only way Japan makes a lot of friends, if you look around. Better ties with the US? why on earth would that be? (threat of China increasing) Better ties with SE Asian nations? why would that be? (threat of China, attempts to isolate and further defense of surrounding nations). Japan wants to be buddy buddy and join joint US/SK drills and NK invasion/defense simulations? why on earth could that be? (threat of NK).

They're still complaining smith. The problem with your statement is that you assume people protesting in Okinawa are views of the geneneral population of Japan when it's even not the consensus of the majority of the people in Okinawa. On occassions, you have labeled those protesting in Okinawa as "right wingers" which clearly demonstrates your lack of knowledge of Japan's political spectrum.

Having said that, your " but in the end they'll just give in and offer aid if NK comes back to the table" probably best fit the description of South Korea with their wishy washy policy to their brother in NK, for Japan has not budged in terms of allowing any exports/imports from NK. With this recent demonstration by NK, expect Japan to limit the outgoing wire transfers even further and to prohibit known zainichi in NK who have connections with Chongryon to enter Japan ever again.

So while "punishing" the government we will in fact be starving to death people that are against the government. The sanctions will not weaken but strengthen the hold of the communists in Korea.

I can't agree more. Even as an act of Western desperation, sadistic sanctions involving basic food and medicine are unacceptable and counterproductive, because they even further weaken the population and strengthen those, who hold them at a gun point, giving them more and more leverage.

Inability to figure out what to do should not lead to taking it out on the NK population. Abe and Lee do not need another "strong resolution". They need to figure out what to do, simply because it is their job.

@Konsta just to add to that statement : Remember where their current "Dear Leader" went to school? for those that do not know ; an exclusive school in Switzerland with excursions to London, Paris, Madrid etc. etc. I guess just part of the education.
