Because it didn't involve Japanese abductees? I would think more important than both would be planning for NK's denuclearization and eventual occupation.

Because Sony is a fading Japanese company and people here don't know about the US Sony or the piece of trash film that is at the center of the problem. They do not want Sony's trash movie to get in the way of the negotiations about the lives of real people.

@gokai_wo_maneku That "piece of trash" film is about to get very popular, even in isolated Japan.

But Japan sees no direct impact on its talks with North Korea over the fate of Japanese citizens abducted by Pyongyang’s agents decades ago, the spokeswoman added.

You have to be utterly stupid to think that is wont affect it.

This is Asian politics ... er, diplomacy ... er, blustering at work.

Still, the use of the word 'demand' twice in such a short space is not very diplomatic. Sounds as if it must be for domestic consumption.

@nankan

"Demand" is a poor translation. The Japanese word is more like "request".

Always a problem....

scipanthiest, Sony announced it will not play in Japan. I'm glad about that. I don't want NK's bombs heading for Tokyo.
