The Russian, no doubt, has sovereignty over the islands as they govern them for over last half century. The japanese need to stop crying about it. Why must they act childish for somethings which aren't theirs?

They are Russian territory and lived on and administered by Russia, so Russians have every right to visit, be they diplomats or otherwise. What's Japan going to protest while they themselves register addresses on the Senkakus or have "Takashima Day" and what not? Better yet, what are they going to do about it? This is obviously in part in response to Japan's promise of further sanctions after the "Let's invite Putin over to 'understand' and 'cooperate' talks" failed, and as I said before, Japan can kiss goodbye any and all hope of ever seeing these islands under their flag again. The sooner Japan realizes the islands are not Japanese, the sooner they can forget it and move on -- something a lot of people here and on this site like to suggest other nations do but refuse to do the same when the shoe is on the other foot.

This is the fruit of Abe's trying to play both fields.

LOL the northern islands originally belong to Japan, but were seized by the soviets after Japan surrendered following the detonation of the atomic bombs by US forces. They took those islands through military force when Japan was in a bad state, to say that they rightly belong to Russians and that the Japanese should forget about it is just dumb. You westerners only care about Western interest and have no interest over Japan; it's hilarious how you ppl love living in Japan yet have so much criticism over it's politics, people, and thinking
