Japan is sending officials to reclusive North Korea to keep up pressure

What pressure?

But Pyongyang said last month there were no details to report and invited Japanese officials to visit for an update.

Umm...if there are no details to report, I really don't see what sending officials over there to visit is going to accomplish spare wasting tax payers' money!

Does this mean they started investigations after the deadline of early Autumn? How fishy!

Japanese Official: "So, now that we're here, are you going to tell us anything new?"

North Korean official: "No."

Japanese Official: "O.K. Thanks."

They'd better take a truckload of cash, booze and ciggies to grease the wheels.

It's easy to keep pressure on the North; no good, money, or ANYTHING until this matter is resolved to Japan's satisfaction.

this might work for family of abductees. So many that it takes time. Ever since Kim disappeared, N K officials are behaving differently, they even sent their military envoys to S Korea. Then, it released one of three Americans to USA. Situatuin is that N Korea can not hide behind of China or Russia. Their people are hungry. let us wait to see how this will work.

I'm thinking of taking a trip to North Korea. I would probably be kidnapped and jailed for treason. After spending 6-12 months in prison, I would probably be released. The first thing I would do is to hire an agent, make a book deal, arrange for interviews on national television, and suggest who would play my part in a Hollywood film. 6-12 months of a sucky life in North Korea, then the life of a celebrity afterwards. Truthfully, the kidnappings are sad for the families involved but there is so much hatred between Japan and Korea. I have Japanese friends who dislike Koreans. It's only when you become good friends with somebody when they let their guard down and the subtle racism comes forth.

I hope none of the members of this team are detained and kept from returning to Japan.

@Serrano: N Korea can't feed them if it detain any one person, It even released one of three Americans recently.
