Might be the third largest economy now China is more than likely #2.

I'm still waiting for my 12,000 yen as well, when the heck are we going to get that. I know its not much, but I'll put it right back into the economy.

How does spending money on elderly care going to increase the economy? Sure it creates some jobs but it's not like those jobs were not needed in the first place. Japan needs to promote music and the arts, build things, create new products, hold government sponsored competitions, stuff like that make NEW jobs.... heck even going to space would create more NEW jobs than caring for the elderly.

Much of the new stimulus money will go to make the already rich politicians richer. When will the Japanese wake up and realise their country is being robbed by the very people they've elected?

Sounds more like an expensive 'face saving' exercise to me. Anything to stop China from toppling Japan off the No#2 spot.

Hope it works, but they got to figure out how to get other countries to continue to buy their stuff, and not from china or india. one way would be Massive immigration for cheap labor to lower the prices for their exports. Win for everybody. Except the xenophobes.

I got something in the mail explaining the 12,000 handout and swearing that we'd get the form to fill in around the middle of the month. Then I can only imagine it'll be ... forever after that before the money comes.

I'm still waiting for my handout. I think I can get cash quicker if I move to the States, declare bankruptcy and apply for a bail out.

The LDP can spend our money better than we can! Obamanomics in Japan... not that it was hard for the party apparachicks to take to it.

    gogogo:

I just got my letter today from my city office, so if you're not a tourist or an illegal immigrant (hehe) you should get yours to your registered address. I live in Oita just as a side note.

In it is specified the fact that distributing the money has started, and that the application papers will follow "soon, a later day". It also specified the fact that getting it as a transaction is impossible, so you have to pick it up yourself.
