Declaration whether sufficient or insufficient, it appears that US will definitely delist N.Korea from terror sponsoring nations, atleast for once. Thereafter, depending on NK's further progress sanction might be re-imposed or any other action that US seems appropriate might be taken.
Ishiba said, adding that the two topics should be addressed simultaneously though there may be some lag in the timing of resolving them.
that time lag will remain...Japan's claim that abductions took place in 1970-1980, whereas, US listed NK in terror list 20 years ago...
Time lag of atleast 15-20 years...what did Japan do in that period?
Someone needs to tell Japan they are off topic with this abduction crap. Wasn't the point of the delisting having something to do with nuclear, oh I don't know, nuclear uh stuff? Abductions have nothing to do with it and learn to bring it up at the appropriate time.
The J-govt. should know by now that the US is only up to protecting it's own interest. It's high time Japan learnt to stand and fight on its own.
This abduction issue could have well been sorted out by now through by the two nations than under a six-party talks agreement. Simply talk to the neighours directly.
This problem is NEVER going to be resolved, and North Korea is obviously ignoring you, so let it go. There's absolutely nothing you can do about this now until things change in North Korea. When those changes occur (if they occur) THEN perhaps you can return to the negotiation tables to discuss this with them.
Neither Japan nor anyone else needs to "urge" the US to not de-list NK
if their declaration isn't satisfactory or the verifications.
There are emough angry conservatives around right here pretty miffed at
what we've done already. I bet Kim Jong IL is rooting for Barak.
this is my opinion. i think that japan is warning the U.S. of NK's inability to keep a promise. yes, this abduction issue is old and they need to drop it, but if japan asked north korea to look into and north korea said they would while lying through their teeth, then what's to stop north korea from promising the U.S. they'll stop nuclear weaponry and going behind their backs to keep it up? thats the point i think japan might be trying to make and if not...then yeah, they do need to drop this issue. its getting boring and it looks like theyre scrambling for a story and are resurrecting old news.

Ever thought that those in the US gov't have been trying to hint at that very same thing to the Japanese by their inaction towards this issue?
