TOKYO —
Japan will seek to enhance its alliance with the United States under the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama, Prime Minister Taro Aso told the Diet Monday.
“Strengthening the alliance with the new administration is obvious. It needs to benefit the national interest of both countries,” he said during a session of the House of Councillors Budget Committee.

Aso: Will you be my friend please? Nantonaku, I need a friend right now.
Obama: Well, OK. You seem like you have a good sense of humor.
Aso: Can I have a hug, nantonaku, nobody likes me.
Obama: Don't push it.
