Imagine if North Korean agents abducted the children of US citizens, including this 13 year old girl !! Well wouldn't there be hell to pay...there would be no negotiations....NONE...until the issue was resolved.
North Korea is a barbaric nation if the leaders rubber stamp kidnapping of Japanese children. Let's face it , the leader is a looney didn't you know; forget negotiations it will never happen. You know that they stoop to the gutter when dealing with Japan, blasting nuclear rockets over that nations territory etc, arguably their own nationals suffer far worse, how are we to know...they have virtually 'kidnapped' every one of their own citizens as well and hold them hostage out of sight of the world community!.
Bush wants to go out of office with a 'big bang' headline. This half baked resolution is just another brownie point to add to his empty bag of contributions to world peace and harmony since he was elected almost 8 years ago. North Korea's barbaric leader has won here on the back of George Bush's incompetent Presidency. Japanese politicians should really get their back up over this issue or they will lose face to the observers from nations around the globe. If you can't protect your own citizens from kidnapping by rogue nations then your government is powerless to fight the bigger battles that will inevitably arise later.
I don't think Japanshould sweat it. They can and should maintain all the economic sanctions they can afford to apply and lean on the new closer relationship with China to get NK moving. While the abduction issue is
the main beef in Japan, Japan is the closest potential target of a nuclear
off-the-deep-end NKorea. So certainly, the nuclear issue ought tobe pretty high on Japan's agenda.
