Let's not forget that this is not a guarantee. People may remember the last time the LDP had to form a coalition government, back in 94' I do believe it was, Murayama became PM and he was part of the Japan Socialist Party at the time. The government was very weak, even in Japanese terms.
It's a fair assumption but not a given.

Perhaps the father would not interfere with the son. But would the son interfere with the father either? There is no comments comment on the likely effects of a father son double act on Japan's relations with China.

The old Ishihara love to make pot shot like 'bad karma' to humilate the nation and angered the tsunami victims as well! Does the people of Japan has no feelingd at all to their state or even their own future? Pathetic!

The acerbic Tokyo governor has made a career out of offending people, usually aiming his barbs at China, but equally happy to take a pot shot at the United States or even at women
Japan has lost all her credibility in world stage with a poor conducted politician like old Ishihara! It was so ridiculous a mayor could override the authority of state leader like Prime minister or Foreign minister! Japan should really think of her own future with a man like this!

Ishihara and son, urp! One thing he is not boring. Would China on humiliation grounds allow him to settle on one of those islands with son? The black van crowd can join them. The other islands could be used by China to park their troublemakers. With the islands in good use, we could come up with some sort of agreement. China can start reform in their country, Japan could follow and peace might break out.
