Article states: "But Kan was deeply unpopular even before the disasters as he struggled to find policies to boost the economy,"

Another J-media bias. The vast majority of Japanese do not support a change of Kan's leadership in the current situation. Don't blame Kan. He should stay. The Japan's political sniping and bickering had resumed to the uglist level. The current Japan goverment is so dysfuntional and spinning out of control and people are feeling the negatives. Instead of Kan resigning, most J-goverment representatives should look in the mirror and resign themselves. Are they really serving the people to their best of ability? The are only serving best for themselves. What a disgrace. The public is getting fed up with such a selfish agenda and they should vote and have a right to fire these lousy representatives who are creating such a disruptions during difficult times. The economy is invariably suffering from such political instability and it could not come at a worse time. Let people in Japan vote to see if they prefer Kan over somebody else. Last time I checked, Japan is a democracy or has changed to dictatorship of LDP? They have every right to vote and fire these unproductive selfish representatives.

It's as if Kan is wearing a big bullseye. Everyone is after his head, the LDP AND his own party.

Shame on all the politicians in Japan! After how many PMs in the last few years, you are still swapping them out every chance you get. It makes Japan look like a banana republic run by a bunch of in fighting morons. And there is strong evidence supporting the moron image.

So what is next? Abe or Aso? Why would that work any better today than before? Or some new grey old oyaji? Or some aspiring younger one who will be fettered to the point of being incapable of doing anything from selection to being forced out of office a few months in the future.

The Japanese government has become a joke along with all the participating parties. A new system is required with the exclusion of the corrupt party minons that are in power now.

Let the people decide. In the next election. No need to do anything until then. ah.. but this is Japan and politics aren't left to the people.

seems like Kan is looking for his next job with some solar power company, as he's not likely to get a job with tepco now

Its time to call everyones bluff,Mr Kan dissolve the parliament and go to the people, I think you would get the backing from the people of Japan to carry on. Then what would the bias media and opposition do. Would they still carry on their pathetic rhetoric. In the 3 months since 3/11 has the media or the opposition come up with any thing constructive or any alternatives ,we all no the answer, NO. Carry on Mr Kan, you are what Japan needs right now.
