Kan, Matsumoto express outrage at massacre in Norway

TOKYO —

Japan on Saturday expressed outrage over a deadly bombing and shooting spree in Norway that left at least 87 dead.

“Such violent acts cannot be tolerated,” Prime Minister Naoto Kan told reporters of Friday’s carnage.

Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto said in a statement: “We are strongly shocked and outraged” by the violence.

The twin bombing and shooting attacks targeted Norway’s government and ruling party Friday, with a deadly explosion ripping through ministry buildings in the capital and a gunman opening fire at a youth camp run by the ruling party.

Kan sent a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, expressing Japan’s sympathy.

“We offer our deepest sympathies to the deceased and the bereaved families. We also pray for the swift recovery of those who were injured,” the letter said.

“Violence that harms innocent people cannot be tolerated for any reason. I express my solidarity with Prime Minister Stoltenberg, the government of Norway and people of Norway,” the letter said.

Outrage seems to be the wrong word .. but I agree that shock and sympathy are definitely called for.

Sending my condolences to the people of norway.

I wonder what the behavior of this guy was during his childhood. There must have been signs of his sickness. I hope we do not get any copy cats.

These are his thoughts about Japan and South Korea, outrageous....

Japan og Sør-Korea er mye klarere eksempler på i-land som konsekvent og svært direkte avfeide multikulturalismen.

Japan and South Korea are much clearer examples of countries that consistently and very direct dismissed multiculturalism

Det interessante spørsmålet blir jo; hvorfor blir ikke Japanere og Sør-Koreanere demonisert som nazister og fascister?

The interesting question is, why are not Japanese and South Koreans demonized as the Nazis and fascists?

RIP Norwegian amigos. I had a few really nice Norwegian amigos back in college at UCSB, they drank too much, were too big, but really nice blokes. My heart goes out to all of the victims and their families.

Why is this news? Tragedy doesn't need to be demeaned by the shallow and predictable comments of politicians who don't care a whit about their own public, let alone Norwegians. Come on, what else would Kan say?
