I think we have better things to do with our money. How much has the world poured into this prehistoric hole?

Hasn't Afghanistan already proved itself to be the biggest waste of money ever? (Or the second biggest waste, after Instagram.)

“My recommendation to Taliban is to join the peace process and become a political force in Afghanistan,”

Didn't they try that once? Karzai is yet again proving that he is willing to let them go right back to where they were before the war started.

Dear Mr. Karzai could you please provide us your Swiss Bank account number so we can transfer $3.9 bn for 2012 fiscal year.

We can also transfer them to you Cayman Islands bank account (yes, we know about that one too). Direct transfer to Swiss/Cayman Islands Banks account is safer and cheaper rather than using all those tricks you used in the past to hide the "aid" we provided you and that you wasted by using all those financial advisers. Thank you.

Karzai and his compatriots will skim off the top of this $3.9 bill to line their pockets and their cronies pockets as they have done previously with aid money, dont bother trying to help this dump and corrupt bunch any more, waste of money and resources, they dont want to come into the modern era and would prefer to live with stone age beliefs and technology.

And exactly what would a re-built "Afghan Economy" look like? Apart from afghan rugs I can't think of anything that Afghan has ever produced. Dates perhaps? And they want this 3.9 billion every year? Time for a bit of tough love I think. How many billions have already been wasted on fraudulent "elections", the never ending training of army and police and infrastructure? And how many lives have been lost on this basket case nation? Time to say enough is enough, our troops are going home, no more cash, your on your own. Maybe the Taliban might help you out.

We cannot just leave Afganistan behind as a vacuum society. There are innocent Afgans still living there. They need our help, but how can we really trust our money going for the people and democracy? I do not trust Taliban at all. I am not so sure. Karzai needs to tell us all about Taliban before getting money from us.

Most of the money will go to brothers, cousins, and other relatives. Very little will get to where it is really needed. Nepotism is rife, and every time there is a minor crisis, funds are exported to overseas bank accounts. to a good use of other people's money and taxes,

Japan and rest of world need to keep an arm-length away from Karzai. He is just another gangster trying to get thing for free. The Americans started this mess in Afghanistan, let them clean it up. Japan doesn't have enough to take care of their own people, let alone pretend to be a rich country and give foreign aid. The only foreign aid Japan should worry about is how much to give to Okinawa for the use of US bases.

Afghanistan is in the biggest mess ever. Those who started democracy for Afghans should clean up such a big mess. I wonder who else wants to give him such money?

DO NOT GIVE HIM ANY MONEY. 3.8 billion dollars from the USA is enough, and he still holds the cards. One wonders just how rich does a person need to be when he/she dies. Cubas leaders are millionaires and billionaires. Yanks come home!

$3.9 Billion? I guess Karzai must have flooded the market with cheap opium again which drove down prices.

I think that most people do not mind lending a helping hand, but too much money disappears and too many people in charge end up with millions.

Simon Afghanisatan produces opium. And cripples. I think they do nice melons too (big market for those here in Japan). Otherwise not really sure. This prehistoric dump has chewed up 100's of billions of donor (and warmonger) funds and is still a tip. They should just be cut loose to do theirmown thing.

“My recommendation to Taliban is to join the peace process and become a political force in Afghanistan,” the Afghan president was quoted by Kyodo News as saying.

some might say that they are already a political force.

Hard to feel any sympathy for the average Afghan citizen when the police officers turn out to be assassins, killing soldiers, kids plant bombs and such-like...

Our forces have been sucked into another Vietnam... pull them out now, and leave Khazi to stew.
