China believes that the United States is prepared to peacefully "share" the world with them. They have never studied US history and seen that we have never "shared" the world with a communist dictatorship. Nor does Chins stop to think how the rest of Asia, including Russia feel about it.

It's about time the US tells China to back off! If Obama can't do it, then let Hillary Clinton take over. She laughed in their faces when they said that Hawaii also belonged to China. "If you're man enough, you're welcome to try," she said...and she meant it.

Vote for President Hillary Clinton.

How wrong can you be? Hawaii belongs to Japan. Isn't that why the Japanese on the island were corralled into camps after they tried to take it with their kamikaze fighter planes?

The U.S. have never "shared" the world with a communist dictatorship but neither the U.S. or Japan had a problem with giving them our money, our technology and our jobs and help them become the 2nd largest economy in the world. China has been a communist dictatorship since 1949 so why were we so eager to get in bed with them for corporate profits? Did we really believe that the communists would allow all the Chinese people to become rich and buy all the consumer goods we wanted to sell them? Did we really believe that China once it became rich would not flex their muscles militarily? All the corporations who are making big profits out of China should pay for the defense costs to try and contain them.

I have just read an article on Taipei times and all should be watching China and Taiwan's dealings with one another and both of them with this issue. Ma is strongly for a China Taiwan integration from the start of his presidency, and his administration I feel will eventually partner with China on this issue. Ma is definitely trying to be someone and making himself some kind of a legacy for his time in office. These new dealings with China are again being held in very secretely shadowed circumstances, which has been Ma's typical way of selling Taiwan out from under its people. As for US sharing in peace???? It seems the west has bent over backwards in providing China the means for its build up and bringing so many Chinese out of poverty. Investments and corporations moving operations was what brought China its wealth ,so as bring up the topic of US not sharing seems to be some deceitful planted thought in someone's head here. If you want to talk about peaceful, we see in our face from China, CHINA has shown nothing peaceful, and everyone around the world is watching China's aggression today!

To think that Kerry will take a hard line on China is wishful thinking. It's as unlikely as wishing Biden would denounce China when he came. Of course he didn't.

This Japanese wish on every occasion for some toughness out of the US against China is in fact a reflection of just how much unease Japan feels about the so-called American ally.

United States has its only plans of dealing with China. They won't be pressured or side-tracked by Japan. For the US, the urgency is to stop China from moving too close to Russia, and to set down some core understandings about interest and influence sharing in the South China Sea so that they don't run into conflicts there.

It's not Japan (except for the far right) that wants to have a hard line stance on china. It's Washington and its military industrial complex. China is the good old hypothetical commie enemy after the soviets collapsed. American policy is still stuck in the Cold War era. No doubt that the Washington is using the nationalism in Japan to contain and conflict with China.

Really? When I went to China, the country had so much love for Japan. Sorry to have to be burden of bad news, but most of Chinese really don't have much of affinity for Japan. Also, as an American and a journalist! I have never heard of anything past or present that Washington is eager to build a strong military complex for what, just for the sake of firing missiles for the sheer fun of it?

China is the good old hypothetical commie enemy after the soviets collapsed.

Reality check. China is the country that is building a strong military, building new aircraft carriers, working on their first Stealth plane, weapons GDP of their military budget is somewhere around 18% the constant fights with Japan, which are increasing and on and on and with all that, you think China has a closet love for Japan and all this confusion with China is the fault of the US? ROFL

American policy is still stuck in the Cold War era.

I think it's more like people like you that do not understand the reality of what's going on in the real world.

No doubt that the Washington is using the nationalism in Japan to contain and conflict with China.

What??? ROFL Hey, Japan is doing a great job on their own raising the nationalism issue. We're just taking a backseat and watching all this unfold on Cable news.

If I'm correct, Japan is stil giving ODA money to China, 30Billion yen per year. That may be helping China military as an indirect consequence.

Give China an inch, they'd take a mile. Enough is enough.

It’s highly likely that Kerry’s trip to China would yield any concrete results for the US.

Here is how thing may get tricky, as the American’s stance shifts towards hardline on confronting China, the Chinese regime would respond by showing less interests in working with the US to deter N.K’s dangerous nuclear program or even potentially walking away from the previous agreement with the US in 2013. (meaning - letting N.K continue to work on its nuclear capability.)

The Russian uses the Syria to get its footing in the Middle East Region, the US worries that the Chinese could use the same game plan in N.K ‘s situati by leveraging its distance advantage. That is why so far S.K is very reluctant to listen to the Washington in terms of working with Japan. (the S.K’s position shown at the press conference after Karry’s visit in S.K may provide you some clue). Think-tanks in the US even believe that there is a real possibility ithat S.K may built some sort of defense alliance with the Chinese regime within a time frame of 2o years. Whether or not it actually happens, no one knows. However, by any counts, N.K is a wild card for the US to Play, any fumble on that could bear hugs repercussion in Northeastern Asia. Obama and his national security team knows that.

Another issue US faces is the amount of the scrutiny from the EU and the Russians, the US has been long maintaining the position on the territorial disputes by saying it takes no side. Now, if the US goes far enough to stands one side openly to against the other, then the US’s image may bear some damages. That may give sufficient excuses for the Russians and Chineses to go back to the cold war mentality by playing hard balls on any worldly issues.

In short, the situation is increasingly becoming complicated in Asia as China takes more assertive postion, peace may be slipping away since no one in this high stake poker game seems willing back off any time soon.
