"Earlier this month the prime minister ordered his ministers to draw up plans for fresh subsidies designed to resuscitate stagnant local economies, saying: “It is necessary to speed up the plans in order to stop depopulation there.”

Bribery - nobody does it like the LDP. When you have nothing else to offer then offer free cash. Typical lazy Abe solution that is temporary because heaven knows the LDP can't be bothered to come up with any real solutions.

It's a shame when the majority of people have given up on politics.. Japan's government doesn't reflect its people's ideals at all. Oh well, they seems to be moving along despite it ^_^

Democracy in action.

Right. The people have given up. An aging population, while young people have got no clue in which direction to go politically. Worse, most of them don't even care.

In reality, most of the LDP wins are supported mainly by Soka Gakkai voters. During the campaign period, Soka Gakkai members were busy urging everyone in sight to vote for Komeito ... or Komeito/LDP candidates. One asked me to ask my friends to vote for the LDP/Komeito ticket, and I countered by saying "I'm fed up with rising prices caused by Abenomics." He replied with something like, "Well, be sure to vote for Komeito because we do the right thing." Yeah, I replied, like supporting Abenomics. I heard another SG member start her request for a Komeito vote by saying, "Abenomics is great ... vote for us." Geez ...

Anyway, as has been reported before, the LDP wins come with strong SG support. If there were no SG votes for the LDP, this governing party would lose in a big way.
