It's sounds good. But I don't like it. Let's keep it just the way it is. There are many dirt roads in my community that never see this road money. The roads in Saitama need to be repaired first. Crater size potholes needs to be attended too. No sidewalks where I live. I have to battle traffic daily.

So basically they want to introduce a new tax which they can then use for "special projects". Think I saw a similar thing on NHK about 8 months back, when 17 million yen had been used for massage chairs and 2 million yen on baseball gloves.

I sure hope the boys in Tokyo do a bit more research before deciding to put more tax burden on the poor and hardworking people of this country. Lots of recent data has shown that the earth is actually cooling, as evidenced in this article from the Telegraph.

A carbon tax is guaranteed to make people that can, switch to more energy efficient vehicles. Just look at what's happened in the UK. Downside is those that buy larger cars are more often than not families struggling on a limited budget. They will be the ones paying for this, the rich will just move on.
