Time to dig out the earplugs! There have been a few loudspeaker trucks circling my area, but now the number will be unbearable. If I could vote, none of the candidates disturbing the peace would get my vote. The LDP knows it's in trouble, so they will probably increase the number of noisemakers circling the cities and towns.

Liberal Democratic Party’s tradition in its long history.’’

    long history?

the dissidents have voiced concern that the LDP could suffer a severe setback if it campaigns for the lower house election under Aso

I was hoping more for 'a complete electoral disaster' myself.

Get a grip!! That is priceless.

DPJ has already expressed interest in purchasing nuclear weapons, one of the worst indicators that I would argue put the LDP in a better standing, although they might not seem to deserve it. This is a big moment in Japan's history, and although we all want change, I think changing parties will make things worse than they already are. Bring Koizumi back.

But former LDP Secretary General Hidenao Nakagawa, one of the party’s key rebel lawmakers, was not satisfied with the leadership’s decision and speculation is simmering that he may derail Tuesday’s party meeting by demanding again that Aso be replaced

While I`m no fan of Aso, this Nakagawa character has displayed the worst traits of a politician. Getting stuck into the PM on the eve of an election campaign? What a great party man!

Aso san is just the person who can say a requiem for LDP and the postwar system that his grand daddy devised. He might have been advised on it by the Pope when they met in Vatican earlier this month. Act of mortification maybe.

Anyway we have to thank him for being willing to take up such a humiliating role. The Kamakura Bakufu lasted for 141 years and fell when the government kinsfolk's abuse of their authority was getting too much. The modern era that started in 1868 with the Meiji Restoration has also its 141st this year. LDP and bureaucrats might be a modern version of medieval Bakufu's kinsfolk acting solely for the purpose of defending the status quo along with their own interests. All this is coming to and end.

It's karma, Aso. Karma, buddy, for what your family did to Australian and British POWS in your coal mine...yet refused to apologise. You are goin down, Aso, just like those poor blokes your crappy family sent down those dirty mines!

In all seriousness, though, Japanese politics is beginning to resemble Thai politics. Why can't they be more stable like Western Democracies? Embarassing.

This is going to be the biggest disturbance of the public peace in modern history, methinks. The DP is going to be howling about the LDP, and the LDP will be screaming over loudspeakers to try and keep their seats. Get ready for non-stop noise pollution -- something Japan is famous for.

Shuffle the cards on the deck, and deal them out. What do you have on your hands? Same old faces... Don't ask me. Neither LDP nor DPJ can be a trump card. Sigh...
