48 dams? I bet that saves enough money to pay out the 26000 yen per child bonus for a year. Pity about all the job losses in the construction business but honestly, if I had to choose between trillions of wasted yen and a few thousand construction workers I know what I would choose. Hopefully unnecessary roadwork will be next to get the chop.

Yeah, it worked out to hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted per construction job. Might as well hand out welfare and then some.
