Good choice for Miyazaki prefecture and Higashikokubaru. Build up his fan base even more before he runs and avoid the scent of taking Nakayama's place. Some other LDP nobody will run, win, and, when Higashikokubaru is ready, lose.
Bit of a smack in the face for the LDP's prospects, they really could have done with this guy on the team. That's pretty much all of the Miyazaki vote right there, not to mention flow-on from the other prefectures in Kyushu, whatever their names are.
Good decision on the party of Higashi-san. Better to be a local pollie who can do something as governor than being a national pollie who has to suck and crawl to the vested interests of the LDP.
That shows that he has "heart" and ready to serve his people. He has lifted Miyazaki to some good level both economically and on the media. God bless you higashi-kun

Good on him. He can do much more for Miyazaki as Governor than just another face in the Tokyo Diet.
