Be careful what you wish for, the DPJ is just as corrupt and useless as the LDP.
Sarge at 11:38 PM JST - 20th July
Heck, the DPJ is worse than the LDP-Komeito coalition.
Simon_Foston at 11:58 PM JST - 20th July
Care to elaborate as to why that might be?
Simon_Foston at 12:17 AM JST - 21st July
That's as may be. However, a DPJ win will force the LDP to realize that election victories aren't an automatic right, and that they have to be fought for with clear policies and candidates who might shape up to be competent legislators.

Abe, Mori and Aso came from the LDP. No one could be worse that that.
TokyoHustla at 04:14 AM JST - 21st July
The figures are starting to balance out and the LDP is closing the gap, which has been generated by liberal media bias.
Just wait until prosecutors arrest a secretary of DPJ leader Yukio Hatoyama. Then you will see the LDP roll to power again. Perfect timing.

I have little doubt we will see an LDP victory at the end of August.
Richard_III at 09:47 AM JST - 21st July
I wouldn't place any money on the DPJ winning.
Sarge at 10:46 AM JST - 21st July
Simon - The DPJ are nothing but a bunch of whiners who don't have any credible solutions, and are against the SDF takng part in anti-terror operations.
Simon_Foston at 03:43 PM JST - 21st July
Ah, there we go. I knew your dislike of them would be something to do with the fact they didn't kiss up to George W. Bush as much as the LDP. I'm sorry to have to tell you that as far as lot of Japanese people are concerned that's probably a plus.
Simon_Foston at 04:06 PM JST - 21st July
As for whiners who don't have any credible solutions, how about a party whose lawmakers have been spending lots of time recently criticizing each other and who think a Y11.4 billion manga museum is a good use of taxpayers' money? So far, the LDP's main campaign strategy has been opposition-bashing, a bit like the Republicans last year. All the indications from this and other polls are that it's going to produce the same effect for them.
Sarge at 09:39 PM JST - 21st July
Simon - It pleases me to tell you that the majority of Japanese people feel that their government should participate in anti-terror operations.
I betcha the LDP-Komeito colaition stays in power.
Sarge at 10:02 PM JST - 21st July
Simon - I'll admit it's close - according to a December 2007 Yomiuri poll ( I can't find a more recent one ), it's 45% for and 43% against.
Simon_Foston at 10:58 PM JST - 21st July
I said "a lot", not "a majority." If you watch the news to get an idea of what most voters here care about, re-fueling missions for the US military seem to be quite low down on their list of priorities. Anyway, as the DPJ have recently said they would continue with the missions if elected, I don't know what you're complaining about.
So, apart from the Japanese voters' ardent desire to support any party that wants to kill Al Qaeda terrorists with their bare hands, drink their blood and kill all their children, what else makes you so confident that the ruling coaltion are going to stay in power?
TokyoHustla at 06:41 AM JST - 22nd July
Sarge,
When Sarge makes an election prediction, the opposite usually happens.
