Woot! Japan becoming a full-fledged nation now despite the wishes of the communists.

The US are going to ruin Japan and the peace in the far East.

If the Philippines were to clash with China, they would send an SOS to their ally the U.S.

If the Vietnam were to clash with China, would they send an SOS to their ally the U.S? U.S has never helped Vietnam whenever it got the showdown with China. Vietnam should not be discriminated.

@heynong Both Vietnam and the Philippines have to clean up their political situations at home before the US should give equipment to them. Vietnam is ranked almost as bad as China for its press freedom.

Who cares about press freedom? Realpolitik is all that matters!

Collective security is stronger and cheaper than g it alone.

Presumably all the tin-foil hat people who are constantly convinced that Japan is seconds away from returning to aggressive imperialism will be happy to see the Japanese military enmeshed in a Pacific equivalent of NATO (excluding China trolls like Alex80 of course).

The real trolls here are the ones who bash Japan all the times in other news about nationalism and militarism but they disappear in news like this that show how this militarism is pushed by Washington because they don't want admit that behind Japanese politics there's the anti Chinese American agenda. It's convenient to the US for Japan not getting close to China, so you'll never see real apologies from Abe to China.

Good on Japan helping friends in Southeast Asia

"Helping"...yeah...

Seems harmless, but lets just remember that one of the excuses for dropping A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and burning Tokyo and Kobe to the ground were their supplying of war materiel. This will put Japan on the list of justified targets in the event of anyone having a war with America, according to America's own precedent. I don't want this. I know perfectly well that America's military is so grossly overfunded that it can supply itself with complete ease and probably China's military too if it ever wanted. This is just an obvious crawl back to militarism even if it is likely to be American style. No thanks. Do no want.

That's what SE Asians feel, and that's what counts.

I see you don't know much. Between the 5th generation fighters, submarines, and anti-ship missiles China has, it is a very dangerous proposition preparing to throw the mongols back. It does't help, either, that cowards like yourself don't want the US to have even a scrap of land to launch aircraft from.

Japan should allow USA to put ICBMs silos in Okinawa
