The guy is right. But that's no match for hysteria. And certainly when the 'food' in question didn't have a Japanese passport to begin with. Cue outrage.
I always like to refer myself to the mislabelling case of Hinai chickens that was exposed last year and whose media noise lasted a whole couple of minutes. Totally internal matter. No blaming it on the outside. And so nothing to be done about it. Those Japanese farmers are doing their best and generally going about being Japanese, so I'm not going to interfere with their inefficient daily chore. Gambare!

If tainted rice has "no effect on the human body" as the self-styled medical expert Ota claims, perhaps he would be so kind as to eat a bowl or two in front of the cameras?

haha I love the crumby government over here. So bad. 'Nothing to see here, folks.'

I saw some nasty-looking mouldy rice on the news yesterday- it may not have a big effect on the human body, but should we really have to eat it? I would also like to see the minister eat a bowl or two himself if it really isn't that much of an issue.
