Noda pays courtesy call on Abe

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Thursday paid a courtesy call on new Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Shinzo Abe and asked for his support in getting two key bills passed during an extraordinary Diet session which the ruling Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) intends to convene this autumn.

Noda was accompanied by DPJ Secretary-General Azuma Koshiishi and Deputy Secretary-General Jun Azumi.

Noda and Abe agreed that top officials from the DPJ, LDP and the New Komeito Party will meet as early as next week to discuss an agenda for the Diet session, Fuji TV reported.

Noda has been calling on the opposition bloc to cooperate in passing two key bills -- one to issue deficit-covering bonds and another on correcting voter value disparity.

However, Abe said that a precondition for the LDP agreeing to pass the bills is that the prime minister dissolve the lower house and call an election before the end of the year. However, many in the DPJ remain opposed to an early election.

On Thursday, Noda repeated to journalists what he has said many times, namely that he will dissolve the lower house "soon," Fuji reported.

Looks like the nutcase Abe will resort to the same tactics as Tanigaki: "Agree to our demands or we will boycott the Diet and pass a censure motion in the upper house".

an early election would destroy the DPJ, not that they don't deserve it. the problem is the LDP is no better...

Noda, "Oh so very nice for you to return to politics. How is your bowl movements these days?"

As Scrote wrote above, the LDP will demand an early election or else will continue to drag its feet in parliament.

So Noda and his Minshuto members will have to battle on alone. And as the LDP will see to it that nothing continues to be done for Japan or for the people, Noda will undoubtedly be forced to call a general election. Just hope Noda can hold out until Springtime, but doubt it.

No different from Tanigaki. Don't know why they bothered to elect a new leader, he's the same as the old one except with a dicky tummy.
