Okinawa has 23,140 individuals related to the US military, including 13,480 Marines and 7,080 Airman. Okinawa contributes 74.7% of all US bases' land in Japan. And now the smallest prefecture has to give up M O R E?
No,not giving up MORE. They want to relocate Futemna away from what has become a crowed urban area as precious little snowflakes are having trouble spleeping in class. There was tentative agreement to move it north to a more remote location near Henoko and next to Camp Schwab, however, the devil is in the details and it is taking forever to get agreements on the nature, size, orientation, schedule, payment, future use, environmental impact, etc. On a personal note, I was stationed at Schwab and my twin brother used to fly out of Futenma. No doubt the former base will be used for an aesthically-pleasing, economic-boosting, carbon-neutral project like a golf course or a resort hotel.
Of course, that's what we need, a carbon-neutral golf course! Why didn't I think of that! (I'm pulling your leg Ultradude.....I'm trying to generate indignation in the local population. I can't. they just LOVE the smell of Dollars in the morning!)

Must'a missed the election where you got to be in charge of the local population.
