Osaka mayoral race down to two candidates
OSAKA —
The Osaka mayoral race on Nov 27 has come down to two candidates—former Osaka Gov Toru Hashimoto, 42, and incumbent Mayor Kunio Hiramatu, 62.
In an unusual move, the ruling Democratic Party of Japan is not fielding a candidate, while the opposition Liberal Democratic Party is endorsing Hiramatsu.
The key issue in the election is administrative reform. Hashimoto resigned as governor on Oct 31, three months before his term of office expires on Feb 5, in order to run for mayor.
Hashimoto said he made the decision because he was unable to achieve administrative reform due to continuing opposition from Hiramatsu. He said there was too much inefficiency and overlap in the administrative functions of the prefecture and the city.

i find it hard to believe that i'm supporting a candidate endorsed by the ldp, but hashimoto is a japanese wanna-be yankee tool, in the mold of fellow cretin horie.

Maybe it will get down to one person, and he can race himself.

I'm surprised old Higashikokuburu (or whatever it is) didnt have a crack at winning Osaka after his epic fail in his bid for Tokyo!
