TOKYO —
The Government Revitalization Unit will select government projects contained in the fiscal 2010 budget requests at its meeting Monday to put them under review as part of its effort to sort out waste in government spending, government sources said Saturday.
Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, head of the panel, aims to cut by more than 3 trillion yen the budget scale, which now stands at more than 95 trillion yen, the largest-ever, after receiving the requests.
