    Rotating chairs again: Foreign minister - deputy premier; unknown - defense minister. And wasn't someone just saying earlier today that the new cabinet was designed to get rid of Ozawa? How so if Tanaka was put in as a sop to balance party unity?

    "But he remains an unknown quantity for many in defense and national security circles."

    And probably has zero qualifications to boot; at least that's usually the way it works. Anyway, if he gets canned within a few months he can seek to be appointed for foreign affairs, then science minister, then education... spin spin spin.

    What I get from this story makes me think Tanaka was chosen for other reasons. But then again, how often has competence been of importance when choosing ministers?
