"The US is on their side, that is the most important fact. The most powerfull nation on earth supports them. That is a fact the Pro Japan posters seem to ignore!!!!"
No, the US has made it clear over and over again that SKorea and Japan must settle this dispute in a peaceful diplomatic manner. You're living in a dream world if think that my country is "siding" one way or the other.

Well the US have now changed their minds and support the fact that the islands are S Korean.
OssanULTRA at 07:02 AM JST - 7th August
Not really. The Liancourt Rocks remain under undesignated status.

You don't get it do you? We're not pro-Japan but are advocating an arbitration by a neutral international body, like the ICJ. We're not anti-Korea by any stretch either, but you're certainly pushing us in that direction with every one of your mindless posts.

Still think it is a STUPID fight to pick. I do not understand why the rulers of the Southern Chosun want to pick a fight with Japan over such a meanless group of rocks?

The islands look like two Sumo wrestlers. Who will win the bout? The Corean wrestler? The Japanese wrestler?
Keep pushing, Corea! Keep pushing, Nippon!

There are loads of reasons why these 'rocks' are such a big issue for the two countries. The first is that the one who controls is also gains more territory as well as rich farming grounds... The second is that, no matter how much relations have improved between the two countries, they still pretty much hate each other! So, the 'rocks' are a buffer in the case that hostilities do actually break out (and with the N.Korean threat, the Japanese are desperate for any form of security- real or imagined...)
On the Korean side, it's not merely a matter of territory or security, it also has a historical context. One of which is that before Japan annexed the country, it belonged to the Koreans... And unfortunate to say, the Japanese occupation was not pleasant!! This and that aside, let's just say that the Koreans view the Japanese decalaration for the island an afront to the memories of those that perished under Japanese occupation and their demand for another 'Imperial Japan'...
The point of this would be (irregardless of foreign intervention) that things would be a lot quieter if Japan backed off, especially since if anyone tried to make anyone admit that their forceful occupation of you and the irrational deaths of your people was justified in any way, I'd shoot that man myself!!

Dokdo is Korea's islets and that is absolutely indisputable.

nipponlove - "that is absolutely indisputable"
Except that it's being disputed.

Korea is the one that is causing all of the trouble. Some people in Japan just want to make the claim and nothing more. Perhaps Japan can keep the Americans from interfering with their continued civil war. Japan needs to step aside from the problems with the Chosun. Why Korea wants to make a problem over maps and textbooks is not understandable.

Agreeing with nerzghul.
And 'just making the claim' isn't bad enough? If wrong information is in maps or textbooks then that's a big problem, cause after all, maps and textbooks exist to give CORRECT information. So if the Koreans view the islets as their territory (they control the islets so they have a point), and Japan wants to make a claim by putting information in maps or textbooks, it's understandable that they would be ticked off.
And the last time I checked, I thought Korea was Korea and not Chosun? Or do Japanese maps and texbooks say Korea is Chosun?

Japan and the US hardly know what Dokdo/Takeshima is except for a place where rocks collect bird dung.
On the other hand, this bird dung covered rocks are like Korea's heavenly palace which rules their minds 24/7. LOL.
