USNinJapan2- Thank you for clearing that up !!!! YGHOME really doesn't understand what he/she is talking about. YGHOME please sleep well tonight because many americans are making sure you can sleep well tonight. What do think N. korea will do to foreigners living in Japan if they came and invaded Nippon. Do you think you will just go home and be free ? Probably he/she will cry for mommy when problems arise.

Which goes to prove that the people of Okinawa will not have the choice to be neutral in the likely event of a Second Korean War, all beause of their choice to maintain union with America's lapdog Japan that would gladly offer the island to their master's disposal.

Let's remind ourselves that North Korea does not have a blue water navy nor a strategic air arm to threaten the islands.
mymyselfI - I don't sleep well thinking about the American military presence here at all. They still can't even defeat the Taliban fighters after 8 years of trying in Afghanistan. How are they going to protect us from the one million North Korean troops?
In that case I'd get used to not sleeping well because there isn't anyone else even remotely willing or capable of doing the job. Must be truly awful for you...
UN forces (primarily US) will have to defend South Korea (again).
USNinJapan2, the picture that you present is beautified. The truth is that America is and has been an aggressor in Korea and everywhere else on this planet. It is clear to everyone who follows the occurrences in the recent years that America's agenda towards Korea is not defensive. Rather, the agenda is to perform a regime change in North Korea.
Let me get this straight. Are you saying that the US was the aggressor in the Korean Conflict, the US' diplomatic stance in the area has been anything but supportive of South Korea and designed to maintain the post-war power balance and stalemate, and that our military presence on the Korean Peninsula is an offensive force?

by using the same type of weapons we used when we defeated Japan in 1945
Hatoyama needs to take a firm position on this important issue. Mr Obama will certainly expect apositive answer when he visits here. Hatoyama as PM realizes the value of the US-Japan coalition. Or perhaps he will listen to his minor partnership in government. The SDP would be disappointed but then who cares.
Balking on an international agreement that has already been signed is a sure way to maintain the status quo...US stays in Futenma, and no movement of troops to Guam. I think these guys are aware of the impact that the exodus of money will have on an isolated economy.

I'll take the sober reality over the delusional haze of an indestructible American military empire.

Could you have done it sooner? If not, then that is pretty pointless to throw in when the topic is Okinawa.
