"I guess they've never heard the phrase "Beggers can't be choosers"

Easy to say for someone who has a living wage job. And, to be sure, many of these people who lost their living wage jobs are indeed taking whatever jobs they can get.

It's just amazing how some people have no sympathy whatsover for the unfortunate...

Easy to say for someone who has a living wage job.

There is a reason I have a good paying job. Do you want me to tell you what it is?

And, to be sure, many of these people who lost their living wage jobs are indeed taking whatever jobs they can get.

Well, that sort of contradicts your statement immediately above that they are not seeking hamburger flipping jobs now doesn't it?

Usually, " Out Of Touch with Reality Politicians " say ignorant comments that they really do not understand. I used to be unemployed 7 years ago. And I tell you it is hard. It is especially hard looking at your loved ones in the face. Telling them, " I am going to this interview. I hope I get this job. "

People can give their nickel's worth of opinions. But what really comes down to it. If you haven't been unemployed before. It's really good idea not to comment. My life experience the longest I have been employed was 4 1/2 long really long months. The idiot box ( television ) should stop showing comedians, actors, musicians, and actresses taking home prize money on television. Everytime I watch these variety shows some shmoo is getting a new car or vasts amounts of cash. WHY ? Why can't they show the average citizen getting money. And why are people watching these goofy shows.

Too bad they aren't going to give Sakamoto the boot. I wonder how he would like being unemployed.

Of course Sakamoto is probably independently wealthy and the yaks would help him out, so I doubt he would end up on the street. A pity. Let them eat cake, eh Sakamoto? Just remember what happened to Marie.

I've been in memyselfI shoes (and am also an Armatrading fan) so I know what it's like. Looking for a job is like a full time job - but you aren't getting paid.

Not at all. Of course they are not seeking jobs that won't even pay the rent, but they're taking them anyway because they're not lazy as you imply.

    memyself:"Unemployment will go up!!!"

Must be more people getting lazy, right, shiuu?

Tetsushi Sakamoto gets fired...feelings of shame set in, can anyone see future suicide victim here or is it just me?

  • samsarks at 10:41 PM JST - 6th January

i do not blame him cos it is a lay man's understanding of the word ''unemployment''.unemployment has various causes and forms and doesnt mean people are lasy etc.i hope you go read some basics about unemployment in any econs textbook and come back and comment constructively-"shuii"

It should be illegal to hire people as "Temp Workers." Theres enough cash and full time work within corporations to hire them as regular employees they just dont because it saves cash. In the end the company saves the cash and ditches them like a pack of dogs on a three legged cat. Unfortunately it is private industry running the big picture and they`ll do what they want. There will never be any action against extirpating the unemployment problem entirely as we constantly see it in the news on a daily basis. Proof that countries like Japan, The US, Canada etc. are truly not Democracy based socities. The world is *ss backwards.

"I wonder if people who are really serious about working gathered there."

This accurately describes many govt/Parliamentary "workers". Perhaps Tetsushi needs some down time in a tent city to think about his remarkable comment.

  • Badsey at 12:54 AM JST - 7th January

    politicians need to step-it-up:

I would mandate tent-city work and life for 1week for all high-level politicians. Politicians need to walk the streets and talk to the people to see what the real situation is. As of now they do not realize what the problems are or what needs to be done.

A clear direction must be set early. In few months the situation will only be worse.

  • usaexpat at 12:58 AM JST - 7th January

Sakamoto sounds like a real jag, let's kick him out of government so he can find new quarters at the tent city.

  • usaexpat at 01:02 AM JST - 7th January

shiuu: I'll take the bait, you were going to tell sarge that you have a living wage job because you're educated and highly valuable to your company right? I wish you no misfortune but you better wake up and realise that no matter your skills, employment, or market sector no one is safe in this economy.

  • telecasterplayer at 02:27 AM JST - 7th January

‘‘I wonder if people who are really serious about working gathered there.’’

Perhaps Mr. Tetsushi Sakamoto should have called their 'bluff' and personally find suitable employment for each and everyone of the demonstrators. Because, the fundamentals of the economy are strong! And there's a job for everyone 'willing' to work. SARCASM
