Abe, prominent?

Not the adjective I would have used.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Significant impact? Thats one way of putting it. Abe is by no means prominent, though Im sure he imagines he is

What Xi did are; ordering to destroy Japanese companies in China, working to build a statue of Korean terrorist, setting ADIZ that cover Japanese islets, etc. I think the previous leader was better and wiser.

Sorry, China has a new leader, and he's not going to take sht from wingers any more.

Now since they are the top 2 men, let them have a duel fight. I'm sure Xi can kick Abe's A(ss) anytime he wants.

Xi Jinpeng deserves Zero Respect and I am shocked at the "Straits Times" for trying a any attempts to prompt a Commie Thug!!!

Shinzo Abe certainly deserves all the Respect and Admiration for fending off a Communist Incursion upon Japan, Japan's Territory, and I commend Shinzo Abe on stabilizing Japan's economy and Winning THE OLYMPICS for Japan :).

Finally, I'd like to commend Shinzo Abe for making the tough decision to inact a Secrets Bill Law in Japan, because its certainly time for Japan to start exterminating Rats and the Roaches out of the Country.

Job Well Done Shinzo Abe!! :))

"Prominent" doesn't mean good or bad. And in that sense Xi is indeed prominent as his long known closeness with the PLA has put him in a position where China is now seen as the regional aggressor that it is. Abe is also prominent in that he is dealing with China's offensive in a way that Japan has not had to do since 1945. Both leaders are prominent in that they are central to the direction of a future Asia.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

I think prominent means conspicuous. It does not mean goody goody only. It is not the result of a popular contest. Not respect contest, either. Name recognition in total of Asian population, I'd bet, /

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Yes, true but giving a Communist Thug any notoriety is the same as giving a some Hoodie Thug the same kind of respect (Prominent or otherwise).

Besides, I think Shinzo Abe deserves the Nobel Peace Prize - Seriously

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@Saketown: You don;t know what kind people read this newspaper. Don;t stereotype Asian people as idiots. Do you know there was one Nobel Peace winner from Japan in past? Your wish to promote Abe as a Nobel Peace Prize winner might come true. Will be 2nd one in Japan, Check why he won and his relationshio with Abe and Abe's son Nobuo Kishi before you smear Nobel Peace Prize again. BTW, Xi is not thug. He has been reforming his country;s political scandals. Can you stick to writing related to the articles anywhere?

@Toshiko

Oh believe me - Xi Jinpeng is a Communist/Maoist/Marxist- THUG!

Look, these Communist Leaders might wear suites and shake hands with other World Leaders, but don't let that facaded image overshadow the fact that THEY ARE COMMUNISTS!

They do not believe in Freedom, Democracy, nor do they respect their people enough to give them a Democracy, The Voting Rights, and or AT LEAST a Bill of Rights.

Communist China is a 1 Party Communist Government (not elected by the Chinese People) and they directly and harshly control the populace with FEAR and REPRESSION and if that Chinese Populace stands up against this 1 Communist Party Rule they will get Shot Dead in the streets and Rolled Over by Tanks just as this Communist Party Demonstrated in Tiananmen Square - 24 Years Ago.

And it doesn't stop there: Been to Shanghai or Beijing lately? Wait until all those people develop Lung Cancer from all that Horrible SMOG they're breathing!

OMG, the Environment in China is absolutely atrocious!

Yea, Xi needs to take care of his people (if he really cares about them) before the "Straits Times" decides to give this Thug and his Hoodie Gang called "The Communist Party of China" any any props ever again.

Shinzo Abe - Nobel Peace Prize - ALL THE WAY!!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@saketown: Xi is not Maoist; His father was purged and jailed, too. . He studied Marxism but not Marxist and he promote market economies. He is not a thug. He is very well educated. He even hold LLD. He speaks Mandalin Chinese. He was based on Shnag Hai area. Chinese Govt needed him desperately because of corruption, Again, he is not a thug. Complain choice of him to Times. Make sure write complaining in Chinese, Not name calling but wirte your thesis.

@Toshiko

Toshiko, you can put lipstick on a pig, but at the end of the day - it's still a pig.

Xi may be educated, well dressed, but he follows a Communist Ideology that is placing Fear and Nervousness throughout the 4 Corners of Asia and upon his own people.

Shinzo Abe has been begging to talk to this guy One On One and Face to Face regarding the consistent incursion of the Japanese Senkakku Islands and Xi flat out refuses to meet with Prime Minister Abe.

Why?

What is he afraid of?

Getting schooled by a a real gentlemen?

I just want to know One Good solid thing in a prominent manner that Xi Jinpeng has done that has reflected positively throughout Asia and The World for that matter to prompt him up next to Shonzo Abe?

It took 3 weeks following the Hurricane that devistated the Philippines for Xi to finally send a Hospital Ship to The Philippines and that was after mounting International Pressure from countries around The World demanding China to to help! So, what was the delay? He certainly didn't delay sending more ships to the Senkakku Islands to harass the Japanese. Japan dispatched aid to The Phillipines almost right away and including the JSDF Forces for added aid and security. Xi and The Communist Party offered 100,000 Dollars with of aid... I couldn't believe that! That was a spit in the faces of all those devistated people in The Philippines. Thanks to Japan's FAST RESPONSE thousands of lives have been saved and lives being restored.

Again, what has Xi really done to prompt him next to Shinzo Abe?

I'll answer that: Nothing.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@Saketown: Did you read the headline and the article? It has nothing to do with nerit or dismerit of nominees. Just two names of famous people in Asia. mentioned in Strait Times article. It has nothing to do with Nobel Peace Prize.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

If there's one thing few people actually believe in China now, thats communism in its orthodox teachings.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

@Die Intel: So, you are not aware Communism and Marxism died many years ago. China has its own ideology that its media was ordered to stucy Marxism a fwq months ago this year. Also, this article has nothing to do with old communism. Just Straits News comment of two famous Asian report.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Well they run the two most powerful Asian nations so not much of any note in this bland statement.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I would say Abe is most negative prominent in asia this year. And next year, hard to find him because he will be nowhere to hind himself from kicking ass by Xi.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Abe? I will spit in his face.
