Suu Kyi defends her conciliatory style

The fact is, there's no love lost between Southeast Asians, like Suu Kyi, and South Asians, like the Bengalis, Indians, Pakistanis, etc.

That fact that they're Muslims doesn't help their case, either, as that's a serious hurdle against assimilation, which is how Asian societies prefer to solve ethnic strife. No true believer of Muslim would allow themselves to be assimilated into a society where so many of their prohibitions are freely exercised.
