Taiwan has contributed the most donantions to japan during the tsunami/Fukushima crisis, they donnated 20billion yen last year from the public, now even the most Japan-loving people has resentment over Japan's arrogances and aggressive over territorial dispute!

Wow... true... is Taiwan a country or is it Chinese territory? Last I heard was that China considers Taiwan theirs. They have to fly the Chinese flag in Taiwan right? Then it's China! Much like we call Hokkaido but it's still Japan. So why are they acting up? If Japan was breaking the law here by entering another country's territory in this case, wouldn't that country have the right to arrest and prosecute? Then why aren't they doing that? Because they know the islands belong to Japan. As how Japan should acknowledge Dokdo belong to the South Koreans.

I think the Taiwanese fly the Taiwanese flag in Taiwan, unless I am grossly mistaken. They are only forced to fly the "Chinese Taipei" flag at international events due to heavy pressure and threats from China.

If China says that Taiwan is "theirs" does that automatically make it theirs? Just like how Japan/Korea/China have been making claims over the disputed rocks- does it automatically make it theirs?

Try thinking how it feels not being able to declare sovereignty for fear of retribution from China and their fear tactics. Completely different from Hokkaido.

And according to 'America' and many other nations it IS an independent nation. When referring to Taiwan, you say 'Taiwan', don't you? not China.

In any case, the ignorance of such statements doesn't take away from the seriousness of the issue. It'll be interesting to see how far these tensions go before things cool off again... if they cool off. Japan doesn't have much more it can do without guaranteeing it loses everything.

Japan's claim over those islands is clearly a violation of the 5 party WWII peace treaty agreed between US, UK, China, Russia and Japan.

In the Potsdam Agreement, it was clearly stated that:

"The terms of the Cairo Declaration shall be carried out and Japanese sovereignty shall be limited to the islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and such minor islands as we determine."

Since Japan agreed with Potsdam Agreement and surrendered in WWII, so it also lost its sovereignty over those islands it colonized before WWII.

Guru29, these islands are part of Okinawa and we do not want to be part of China. I do see this as a back stab from Taiwan, who Japan has supported for all of these years.

Are you ever right about anything? the U.S., Japan and may nations have subscribed to the "One-China" term in order to maintain official relations with the People's Republic of China. No, they do NOT recognize the Republic of China as an independent nation.

The senkakus were never taken by force or greed, so were exempt by the same powers who drafted the Potsdam Agreement. Please stop posting this nonsense.

Japan has far more "friends": in Asia and over the world than South Korea. And Chinas has "business partners" not "friends"

For what it's worth, I'd much rather see these islands given to Taiwan than PRC if it went either way - but only a properly independent Taiwan, not the KMT run Republic of China non-country.
