Is there any north Korean experts in US state department or Hillary has no concerns of the nation's' face' (honour) at all? The Democratic peoples republic of Chosen has sunken the RoK navy's frigate Cheonan and shelling their Yeongping island causing 50 deaths. The DPRC just got away with nothing needs to 'pay' as usual! They are winning the game with nukes and China's military/political protection. The DPRC has lost nothing for the above two incidents. Why they attacked the south without reason...because this is for the sake of 'power transfer' in Pyongyoung and the south has to pay in blood! America as an ally of ROK but failed to protect her client is a shame already and now she is suffering more by begging the north koreans for mercy....with what? With tons of cookies known as 'humanitarian aid' and the 29 year old leader will change his mind for a friendly approach? Who is the real leader of Pyongyoung now:the 29 year old cmdr in chief(world youngest nuke owner) or Beijiang? For that lady...the answer is the former! With a secretary of state like this...you guys dont need an enemy!

Jin Matsubara, the minister in charge of North Korea’s abduction of Japanese citizens, says that resolution of the abduction issue is necessary for improving bilateral relations between the two countries

    Good luck with that.

It's a shame the Japanese government can't get its priorities right. Somehow the abduction issue is more important than nuclear threat. It's also interesting that they've chosen Jin Matsubara to be in charge of this issue. He is a nationalist known for his vehement belief that the Nanjing Massacre and other atrocities by Japanese soldiers in WWII are fictions, something that will no doubt also be known by the NK side, which will understand the message that Japan is sending. Not a smart negotiating move by the J-govt, but the DPJ figures it will score political points at home.

I agree that the abduction issue is something that should be dealt with, but not as a precondition for more important talks.

The DPRC(North Korea) is a trouble that neither by force or by negotiations could settle and it keeps hurting!

plasticmonkey, the nuke threat is overblown. So they have a few clumsy devices. They are much more of a threat to the ROK than Japan. If they manage to light one off, it would be the last thing they do! Also people will discover what high radiation really means. Japan should stay out of the talks, it distracts from the talks which in the end is north/south relations.
