Well, it's great to see Japan wanting to accomplish what they set out to do (but failed) 70 years ago, but in peaceful ways.

The United States is not part of East Asia, so where do we fit into an East Asian community?
This backbencher is willing to say anything to get some air time.

The decision for an Asean community should not be determined by the US, but by leaders in the Asian areas. I've been watching CCTV and believe the Asian countries are coming together and that also includes Australia. I don't see why it would be damaging to the US if they were excluded. I was under the impression when President Obama gave a speech saying the US would respect Sovereign nations. Apparently those were only words.

The USA wants this to happen. Its all part of the new world order, one world, one currency, plans. Next step bankrupt all major currencies to create ONE single currency.

Japan is one of East Asian countries. It should think the community more important for World economy and Japan's than other western countries. That's why Hatoyama already left Obama in Tokyo for Singapore.

This lawmaker has nothing to worry about, because this East Asian community will never happen. At least not in our lifetimes.

America has interests all over the world. Why isnt Japan allowed to have interests in Asia?

Again, it's called the "East Asian Community" which gee, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc don't really belong to but of course they want a presence there to keep an eye on things, which unfortunately from a political standpoint makes absolute logical sense.
However, the East Asian Community is for Asian nations and should be.
