Undercover operations. As the US banking system and economy collapses, China shall slide in, first economically, then militarily, as their slow and covert grab for african and south american oil makes their military machine stronger than the U.S. The US bowing down to North Korea is just an indication of the times that are to come, which unfortunatley, does not bode well for Japan, AT ALL. Japan can have their precious abductees back as both Japan AND the two Koreas are absorbed into the next world superpower: China. Get used to poison food.

China ain't going to be a Superpower. At least not for several decades now when it recovers from it's export based econmy going flat.

Make no mistake though North Korean officials have been conducting terror against their own unfortunate citizens with mass starvations and death camps.

Who cares? The world has proven that they'll watch 1,000 die at the hands of others if it means they don't have to get involved and be responsible for 1 death.

An optimistic way of looking at this is that perhaps North Korea has seen China's success and wants to emulate it, so as to reap the benefits. That's why they are developing free economic zones right? Throw them a bone, take them off the ridiculous terrorism list and lift whatever sanctions are attached to such a scarlet letter. Who knows. Maybe if North Korea can make money selling cheap sneakers and T-shirts to the West, they'll stop the drug dealing, counterfeiting, arms dealing, etc. If Libya can come out of the cold, why not North Korea? * with mass starvations and death camps.* Can't take off the "holocaust" colored glasses, can we?

A weak move by the USA in the vain and useless hope that North Korea will stop producing nuclear material for weapons. A stupid move and one that now gives North Korea the realisation that power is within their grasp if they blackmail the US this way again.

Why Japan has to bring up the abduction crap at a time like this is stupid.

  • Spidey at 04:15 PM JST - 12th October

So the omnipotent U.S.of A. crosses off a nation from its "terror" list. And that means what exactly? So if they decide to put, say a country like Canada on this list, does that give the world a free for all to take measures against the Canucks? This list has about as much power as my grocery list. Less even.

It is funny that Japan is objecting, why would the USA listen to Japan complain? USA said yes we wont forget your issues with N. Norea but it is in our interest to remove N Korea from OUR black list, Japan can have its Black list. But no one will take it seriously, you should wonder why now, Japan cut its relation with Iran for the USA interest and for sure not for Japan interest, it is funny . Japan is an Independent nation and should have balanced view on this issue.do they want a pariah with nuclear weapons near their border?China is the befeciary of this policy.

NK becomes 'responsible' nation , congratulations Kim Jong ill, world is now waiting for your public appearance !

Quite the reverse. North Korea engages in brinkmanship - one day it will cause a war at this rate.

Even if it gives up its nuclear weapons it'll still be an evil regime.

So you think it's funny that Japanese families can't get closure on what happened to their children/relations who were kidnapped?

As ever, Japan-bashing takes precedent over sympathy for other human beings....

  • MrDickMorris at 09:46 PM JST - 12th October

Hey guys, stop thsi fear mongering. north kprea aint going o start anything that would threaten the ruling party.

Shumatsu samurai- the Japanese are allowung huge amounts of child abductions yearly, thus they have lost rational folks sympathy. You can't have your cake and eat it japan.

Accept the US choice, and behave more statesman like.

The US decision to delist NK makes sense, for this will allow US to put more pressure at every step and a little more closely on NK.

Meantime, Japan must clearly and officially recognize NK as a terror-sponsoring nation. Please don't pay one-sen to NK before they do enough for the abduction and other criminal activities.

I also hope Japan start a serious reseach for developing a more advanced defense capabilities since the US may not be able to denuclearlize NK completely.

  • reddragonguy at 03:15 PM JST - 13th October

So that was the gratitute of Japan's fueling the US warships in indian ocean for years?
What a pity.....pity to have an alliances like this!

  • presto345 at 07:16 PM JST - 13th October

the United States ‘‘will never forget the abduction of Japanese citizens

Mediocre and small consolation for the families who were ruined by these terrorists, who will remain terrorists as long as the issues are not resolved, and that from a president in the twilight of his leadership.
